Miller scores three as Timon picks up second win of season

It seems that milk is the key to the game for Timon hockey. Pat Faliero, who had a goal and three assists in a 5-0 win over Kenmore East Sunday night, only reiterated the importance of drinking milk five times in his post-game interview.

His linemate Ryan Miller had a hat trick off of Faliero’s three assists and picked up the assist on Faliero’s goal.

“We knew we had to bounce back,” Faliero said. “Two losses in a row, we knew we had to get one in the win column tonight, so the guys were drinking their milk the last couple days, and we were ready to go today.”

“We just had to come out flying,” said Miller. “We knew that they weren’t the strongest team, so we just had to come out flying, get some goals early. We got two on the first shift, kinda set us off to set the pace for the game.”

Miller scored the Tigers’ first goal just 1:12 into the first, and 27 seconds later, he set up Faliero for Timon’s second goal.

“All that milk’s coming in big,” Faliero said. “Boys drinking up lately.”

Joe Shanley scored an unassisted goal less than five minutes later before Miller scored his second goal, shorthanded, with 3:30 left in the first period. Matt Pilski picked up the secondary assist on Miller’s goal.

Miller hoped to cap off his hat trick in the second period but had to wait until 5:18 of the third.

“After I got the third one, I was pretty happy,” Miller said. “After I got the first two in the first period, trying to get the third one in the second, but it didn’t happen, so me and Patty knew we had to come out flying and get some more points. Patty gave me a nice little pass, and I buried on it.”

The Tigers limited Kenmore East to 11 shots on goal over three periods on Sunday en route to their second league win of the season. Tom Parshall stopped all 11 shots for the shutout and win.

“I think we were running good systems today,” Faliero said. “Mr. English wanted to make sure we were all working hard and make sure we had all the systems right, and we executed that today, and I think that was just a thing we did out there today.”

“We came out forechecking hard,” said Miller. “We made a lot of good tape-to-tape passes too. That helped us out a lot.”

And of course, “We drank our milk, so it’s all good,” Faliero said. “We were milked up.”

The plan going forward?

“Keep drinking our milk, and keep working hard,” said Faliero.
