On Friday, December 6 the West Seneca East Trojans hosted the North Tonawanda Lumberjacks.

The game remained a close battle throughout the first period. The Trojans killed a couple of penalties in the first period to keep the game tied, allowing no goals from the power plays in the first period. The Trojans looked very good short handed as they defended their side of the ice very well. After a few big saves from goalie Alex Wagner, the Lumberjacks were able to keep the Trojans scoreless in the first period.

The second period was when the goals started to come for the Trojans, as they scored two goals in the period to have a comfortable lead to start the third. The Trojans opened the third period by adding to their lead with two more goals to defeat North Tonawanda, 4-0.

The Trojans start their season 1-0 as they defeated the Lumberjacks. The Lumberjacks fall to 0-1 on the season.

The key to the win for the Trojans was killing five penalties. Their offense was very strong as they had an intense amount of pressure on the Lumberjacks. Goalie Austin Meidenbauer pitched a shutout for the Trojans. After the game, Meidenbauer was overly excited after his shutout and the big win. Meidenbauer’s goal for the year for the team is to go as far as they can. He stressed how hard the team has been working in the off-season.

“We want to go as far as we can this year,” Meidenbauer said after being asked his expectations for the outcome of the year.

Trojans defenseman Sean Huber scored the first Fed goal of his career. Huber was a practice player last year for West Seneca East, and this year he is doing his part for the Trojans.

“I couldn’t have dreamed it up better,” Huber claimed after his first goal of the season.

Huber was very excited to get a goal and get the win against North Tonawanda.
