A public school against a private school matchup occurred In Orchard Park on Tuesday, December 17 as the Orchard Park Quakers hosted the Timon Tigers.

The Quakers were not messing around against Timon as they came out firing in the beginning minutes of the game, hitting threes and electrifying the home crowd. Senior Chase Kline of the Quakers was not messing around as he started off very hot from three. Senior Ethan Swiatek of the Quakers also was racking up points to start off the Quakers in the first quarter. The Quakers had a 10-point lead after one.

The Quakers held the lead for the rest of the game pretty convincingly as they clearly defeated the Timon Tigers by a score of 74-58. The Quakers made a statement as they earned the win at home after losing at home last week in a close battle with West Seneca West. The team’s passing and shooting was on long as they looked like a complete basketball team against Timon. The seniors led the Quakers to the win as Tino Mancabelli scored 18 points, Chase Kline and Jackson Roskow each scored 14 points, Ethan Swiatek had 11, and Brad Fowler put up 10 points.

Senior starting point guard Chase Kline was happy with the teams performance, especially with some challenging games coming up.

”After winning this game, it should give us some confidence for our upcoming games,” said Kline. “We have three tough games coming up, all against private schools. This was definitely good for us after last week against West.”

Kline’s own 14 points were a season high and for him, it started with preparation and warmups.

“Got to the gym at around 4, got some shots up and felt very comfortable shooting during warmups and it showed in the game,” said Kline. “I hit three threes in the first four minutes of the game. I also had some nice passes and felt like I played pretty good defense.”
