When the Frontier Falcons traveled to Orchard Park to take on the Quakers on Thursday night, the Quakers gave the Falcons a tough matchup. Orchard Park couldn’t be stopped in a 73-39 win over Frontier.

The Quakers were not messing around as they started the game with a boom by going on an 11-0 run. Frontier started to put up points on their own after the Quakers’ strong run. The Falcons brought the game within seven late in the first quarter.

As the game progressed, the Quakers extended their lead to 14 points and led, 31-17, at halftime. The Quakers’ offense almost looked effortless as they seemed to get points on almost every possession.

The second half rolled in the same rhythm as the first half as Frontier was unable to stop OP. The Quakers’ defense was solid in the second half with a few blocks and turnovers, leading to points on the other end. The Quakers were able to come out with a 34-point win.

Orchard Park seniors Tino Mancabelli and Brad Fowler led the way for the offensive success in the game. Almost every player on the whole Orchard Park team recorded a point in the matchup against Frontier. Juniors Peter Liberatore, Bryce Kirk, and Thomas Pazderski brought a strong spark late in the game for the Quakers.

Mancabelli had a strong game both offensively and defensively against Frontier. He recorded 14 points on the night.

“We came out firing, scoring the first 10 points of the game and then we got a little out of rhythm,” Mancabelli said. “Throughout the game, though, we were moving the ball around really well and played really strong defense and eventually pulled away for good in the second half. It was a great team effort and I think everyone scored but one player, which is awesome.”

The Quakers earned the win at home against the Falcons. Orchard Park’s next game is January 14 at Clarence High School at 7:30.
