When Orchard Park traveled to Frontier to take on the Falcons on Tuesday night, the Falcons gave the Quakers a tough battle. Orchard Park ended up coming out of a close battle with a 47-35 road victory.

The first quarter was tight as it was back and forth with a few lead changes in the game. Frontier looked to have a little momentum as they held a small lead for the rest of the first half of the game. The Falcons had a 16-14 lead over the Quakers at halftime.

The Quakers started the second half off strong, gaining points and getting the lead. Quakers senior Leah Harrigan hit some big shots for the Quakers to help keep the lead. The Falcons were only down three points after hitting a three pointer from Paris Izzo with three minutes left in the game. The last three minutes, the Quakers went on a huge run, closing out the Falcons in their home gym with a 47-35 win.

Coach Gary Janas of the Quakers was happy with the win over Frontier.

“We started off sloppy, only scoring 14 points in the first half, with not crisp passes,” said Janas. “We had second half adjustments and a solid third quarter, and we exploded in the fourth quarter, outscoring them 18-6.”

Sophomore Maddy Stevenson was impressed with the team’s play and was happy the team could come out with the win on the road.

“We started off not playing well but took a deep breath and were able to get the win,” Stevenson commented. “I thought I had a solid game and contributed to the team tonight.”

Stevenson put up 11 points in the team’s win.

The Quakers’ next game is Thursday at home against Lancaster.
